I FOUND HER !!!!!

I have AMAZING news, I have found our gal!!!!! She is PERFECT for the role, AND she said yes to doing it.

She was a ballet dancer and she is exactly like our character. However, she can only film Sunday after 2pm, so hopefully we will have enough time to finish, we should since they changed the time because of daylight savings, and sundown is later now. If anything, we can finish during spring break. ALSO, our guy might look too young next to her since she is a senior and he is a junior, we'll have to see, if not we have a back up guy, BUT he is not Spanish so we would still use the other guy for the voice over.

I also rented the equipment from  BECON-T and will be picking up the camera next Friday. I'm so excited to use it again. I will also have lighting equipment and a mic for the voiceover.

Sadly, the drone I was going to borrow from a friend is not available for Sunday, so we will have to do that another day, but we will have it. Just in case though, we will still do an establishing shot with the camera.

I still have to call the train station to see if we can record there, and I messaged Farmacos to ask about the song but they haven't answered :( will update on that.
Preparations for the big day are coming nicely, hopefully everything works out.

who is who?

In class we were peer reviewing each other's projects, and I explained mine. Everyone thought it was well thought out and structured so we're good there. I asked them about the sound and the order of it (will talk in another post), and we talked about my film's character development and since I haven't made a post about it, it thought i would tell you guys about it.

So, why do they break up¿? that was the major question. In the poem (previous post), the guy talks about getting lost in her adventures, her indecisions, not finding himself in her craziness, her ignoring him, and confusing him, etc. When i wrote that, I drew inspiration from the lyrics of Siempre Tu by Farmacos, and thought about what would make a person feel like drowning in a relationship, but still make them love their partner.  What first came to mind was differences. So my group decided that their differences in interest, personality, etc, was the cause of their break up.

He falls in love with her adventurous personality, her spontaneousness, this girl that dances in a train station for fun, not need, a free spirit, the girl of his dreams, the girl that did and was everything he wanted to be and do, a girl that took him out of his comfort zone, and introduced him to a new perspective, BUT also a girl with no structure, that lived in the moment, with no thought on the consequences, which brings problems, a girl that brings uncertainty, and doesn't know what she wants, and a girl that can't understand his ambitions for the future. He is focused in his career, but also wants to have an spontaneous life, but with limits, He needs to see and know things clearly, and he tries to follow her along in her adventures, but gets lost in them, and sometimes, he has to pay the consequences. This differences are out of their control, and because of reasons of life, they're forced to make a choice between them or the future.

what to wear, what to wear

Okay so since we're filming next weekend (!!!), we started talking about what our actors are going to wear, so we started thinking about character development, and who our characters are going to be (next blog post), and we decided that the girl is a free spirit, spotaneous and adventorous so i created a mood board for her clothes :
I want her to look kind of hippie, with flowers on the floor where she's dancing, a flowy dress or skirt, loose hair with jewelry and maybe a hair accessory. Maybe she can be barefoot (if my actress doesn't mind, or with ballerina shoes)

For the guy, he is more structured, and business like so this is his mood board:
I want him to look like a hipster business guy , I dont know if those go together but we'll make it work. He will have glasses, a polo or buttoned up shirt, and look a little fancy, like he's going to an internship or something like that (cause they're teens).

cAn ANyOnE aCt????????

Something that can make or break a film, a director and her team can do EVERYTHING right, but if the acting sucks, the film probably will too, since editing can only go so far.

Chad Perkins, has a short film course,  where he details the importance of acting in filmmaking, i didn't purchase the  course, but in the overview, he mentions how Acting is one of the most misunderstood aspects of film, since "actors must be very in-tine to all the nuances of what they're feeling because those feelings are the tools of their craft." I need to be able to help my actors do this effectively, or no matter what my group and I do, the film won't live up to our vision. Of course this will be very hard, since i don't know any Hollywood actors, so that is one of the reasons why we decided to have almost no dialogue. We are planning on having a voiceover, of the guy reciting a poem he wrote to his lover, but before they meet, kind of like a flashback.
We already found our guy, and I believe he will do great, if he doesn't we will change him for someone else.

For the girl, we not only need an actress, but she has to be a dancer too (SOS), we decided to complicate ourselves, but hey if thats what it takes to make your our vision happen I'm all for it!
I have a few friends who are ballet dancers, i just have to see if they're good at acting too. If anything we will just take a walk to CBHS drama and ask around to see if anyone is interest, I'm sure someone would be down.

We want the poem to be in Spanish, because of the aesthetic, and because our film will have a political undertone of immigrants and their lives in the states ( the girl) and tourists (the guy) .We're in the process of writing it  but here is a little snippet of what we have so far:

Me ahogo en tus infinidades

Corro en tus indecisiones
Me pierdo en tus aventuras
No me encuentro en tus locuras
Me encanto con tus maneras de confundirme
Estoy perdido en tu ignorarme
Eres mi debilidad
(I drown in your infinities
I run in your indecisions
I get lost in your adventures
I'm not in your follies
I loved your ways to confuse me
I'm lost in your ignoring me
You are my Weakness)
Take in mind that we are no poets, but I am consulting my AP Spanish Literature teacher to make it more authentic and good.
